About Curly's Athletes LTD.

Our Mission

At our heart we are a community and charity focussed event management team, who 'love' what we do putting purpose before profit.

We get involved in many more things than you might think, but are always driving by the want to 'do good'!

Our experience and backgrounds are really varied, so don't be surprised if one day you see us coaching kids athletics, developing health strategies, moving boxes around (we do a lot of that!), helping create event plans or working on economic growth programmes.

So if you fancy doing something purpose driven, that's cool or that makes a difference, then reach out and ask... we get very excited by great ideas!

If you want to know a bit more about us then read on for our 'background' ramblings!  (and grab a brew... its a bit long!)

A bit of background

If you fancy a lengthy read!

In the past we have been fortunate as amateur athletes to take part and race in lots of great sporting events across the world.

We loved the feeling of that ‘big professional race’ but felt they often missed some ‘heart and purpose’. Closer to home we saw lots of hardworking volunteers putting on great events with real purpose and drive, but they didn’t have the same big event feel.

So, we wondered what it would be like to have a big event feel that connected through a strong sense of purpose to its community, charities, gets people moving and helping to bring people together.

This formed our ‘everyone is an athlete’ approach, which helps us ensure everyone feels welcome, can take part, go to be part of something special and memorable and felt valued.

Eventually this led to us to win a national event of the year award (alongside lots of other awards at national and regional level for our events).

Over the years of been involved in sports and events we also saw the power and the impact on our charity’s partners, the communities and our individual athletes.

This was especially noticed during Covid, when we couldn’t do the events, everyone loved.

Our charities couldn’t fundraise, people were less active and we missed coming together and celebrating the sport we love.

During this time, we also worked to support during the pandemic and then this sowed us some of the health inequalities that our communities faced.

This then drove us on to work on how we could support people to get more active as physical activity (described as a miracle drug) changes lives. Alongside understanding the barriers and the impact of health inequalities.

We’ve been recognised through business awards for our work in the community winning awards for our CSR and innovative approaches.

Created from all of this was our ‘purpose before profit’ approach … which basically means we just want to do good.

Now we deliver events from running, triathlons and other adventures that are (we hope) fun, challenging and memorable, unique experiences for people.

Over 1 million people every 90 days see our online content!

We hire sports venues out and throughout our incredible volunteers open these for free to the public and provide free coaching for lots of kids and free sessions for adults.

Excitingly we’ve also launched our shop and sports kit, following the same principles we use this to generate lots of small grants that supports others to get active, especially focussed on those who face more challenges in getting active.

Our work also see's us volunteering to look at how we grow prosperity in our communities, working on things like economic growth to help tackle health equalities and connect into to strategies that help people get more active.

We love what we do, and we hope that shows through in everything we do.

Who knows what we’re going to get up to next... we think we need to start a charity!
